Plan. Back up. Recover.

Backups &
Recovery.
Because “it's probably fine” isn't a strategy.

Good backups aren't just about copying data. They're about being able to restore it when you need to. We help you plan, implement and test backup and recovery solutions for Linux, Proxmox and the systems you rely on.

  • LVM and encrypted systems
  • Bootable recovery media

LUKS Encryption

Keep your data private, even in backups and during recovery.

  • Encrypted volumes and key management
  • Secure key storage
  • Unlocking at boot and during restore

Testing & Recovery

Backups are only as good as your ability to restore them.

  • Regular restore testing
  • Documented recovery procedures
  • Disaster recovery planning

Advice & Support

Practical guidance for your backup and recovery strategy.

  • Review and improve existing setups
  • Solve problems and troubleshoot
  • Plan for the unexpected
Why it matters

Backups don't stop bad things happening.

They help stop you losing everything when they do. A well-planned backup strategy protects your data, your time and your sanity. It can make recovery faster, simpler and less stressful — whether it's a failed disk, a botched update or a firewall with a particular opinion about your access.

And remember: RAID can help with disk failure, but it cannot replace a separate, recoverable backup. Nor can a backup sitting permanently connected protect you from every disaster.

✳ RAID DOES NOT EQUAL BACKUP
● ● ● backup status — example output
root@backup:~# proxmox-backup-client snapshot list

VMs and containers
vm/100 node1 OK
ct/101 node1 OK
vm/102 node2 OK
ct/103 node2 OK

Status: completed successfully

Next step: test a restore.

Backups are useless if you never test them. (Yes, really.)

The recovery plan

Hope is not a procedure.

A good recovery plan tells you what to restore, where to find it, which keys and credentials you'll need, and how to get the service running again. Ideally, you discover any missing pieces before disaster decides to conduct an audit.

01

Know what matters

Identify critical systems, important data and realistic recovery priorities.

02

Make reliable backups

Automate jobs, monitor results and keep suitable copies separate from the systems they protect.

03

Test the restore

Recover files, VMs or entire systems in a safe environment and verify the results.

04

Document the process

Record the steps, access requirements, encryption keys arrangements and recovery dependencies.
